FAQ

Am I allowed to remove my tree?

It depends on several factors, including the tree's location, size and your local council requirements. We'll assess the situation, explain the requirements and help ensure the work is completed safely and in accordance with local regulations.

When should a tree be removed?

Tree removal is usually our last option. We always start with a careful assessment to check the tree’s health and structure. If there’s a way to save it—like pruning or treatment—we’ll let you know.

Tree removal may be appropriate when a tree:

  • Has become dangerous or unstable

  • Is dead or significantly declining

  • Has suffered storm damage

  • Is causing problems around a house, shed, fence or other structure

  • Has large dead branches or significant structural defects

  • Has outgrown its location

  • Is interfering with planned property improvements

  • Cannot be safely retained through pruning or other tree-care measures

If you're unsure whether a tree actually needs to be removed, we can assess the situation and discuss the available options with you.

Not every tree can simply be felled from the ground. Trees growing close to houses, fences, pools, gardens, power infrastructure or other structures may require climbing, rigging and controlled sectional dismantling.

DT ArborTrees plans each removal around the tree, property, access and surrounding hazards to minimise risk and disruption.

For larger or more complex jobs, we can also work with specialised equipment such as cranes and EWP where required.

What happens during tree removal?

Every property is different, but a typical removal may involve:

  1. Assessing the tree and surrounding area

  2. Identifying access, hazards and potential drop zones

  3. Planning the safest removal method

  4. Setting up equipment and exclusion zones where required

  5. Climbing, rigging or dismantling the tree

  6. Processing branches and timber

  7. Removing or chipping green waste

  8. Cleaning the work area

How much does tree removal cost on the Sunshine Coast?

There is no single price for tree removal because every tree and property is different.

The cost can be affected by:

  • Tree size and species

  • Tree condition

  • Location of the tree

  • Access to the property

  • Proximity to buildings, fences and other structures

  • Whether climbing or rigging is required

  • Equipment required

  • Amount of timber and green waste

  • Site conditions

For an accurate price, we recommend providing photographs of the tree, access and surrounding area so we can assess the job and provide a quote.
